Fleet Numerical Meteorology Oceanography Center (FNMOC)
FNMOC, located at Monterey, California, distributes DMSP data to the Navy and Marine Corps. It is one of two primary computer processing centers of the Naval Oceanographic Command that operates global and regional meteorological and oceanographic analysis and forecast models. Using conventional and satellite environmental and image data, FNMOC systems analyze and forecast atmospheric and oceanic conditions. Analyses and forecasts are used to create end-user products such as passive and active acoustic propagation conditions and ballistic wind and density forecasts.
